James E. Kearney

James Edward Kearney was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He served as Bishop of Salt Lake City and Bishop of Rochester .

James Kearney was born in Red Oak, Iowa, the second of the three sons of William Patrick and Rosina Kearney. His parents were Irish immigrants who were originally from County Donegal. In 1886, at age 2, he moved with his family to New York City, where his father worked in retail furniture sales. He received his early education at Public School No.since there was no parochial school at his home parish, St. Agnes Church.
